How to maintain email subscriptions when an email domain changes

We have several client companies who have rebranded and changed their company email domains.

I can add the new email addresses for all the associated contacts but how can I update their chosen email subscriptions from their original email to the new email?

It could be as many as 1000 contacts - it’s not practical to make a note of the email subscriptions for each contact and then subscribe their new email address.

Any suggestions please?

Hi @J_Mackintosh,

There is, as far as I know, no way top copy them over from one email address to another 1:1. You would have to use one of the bulk options: mass editing or workflows. Manage your contacts’ messaging subscriptions

In other words:

  1. Create static segments of contacts based on their subscription preferences (static because changing the email domains will lead to contacts not meeting the criteria anymore, they’d leave an active segment the moment you make the change)
  2. Change email addresses of contacts
  3. Use the bulk options to update contacts as per their static segment membership

Let me know if you have any follow-up questions!

Hi @J_Mackintosh -

@karstenkoehler 's suggestion is the best workaround I could think of as well, so +1 for that.
