Hey,
Is there a way to get a video ID from a file ID? When I do a GET request for a video, it doesn’t include the video ID which is needed for the video player.
Thanks in advance!

Hi @SanttuH
I hope that you are well!
Great question, thanks for asking the HubSpot Community!
When checking these resources " Retrieve file by ID - HubSpot docs " and " HubL standard tags - HubSpot docs ", I couldn’t find a way to achieve this at the moment.
I’d recommend sharing this valuable feedback via our HubSpot Developer Feedback Form so that the Team can have their eyes on it.
In the meantime, let’s check what our Top Experts have to say: Hi @MichaelMa, @evaldas and @Anton can you think of a workaround to help @SanttuH, please?
Thanks so much and have a fantastic day! ![]()

Hmm… unfortunately, it doesn’t seem exposed anywhere via the API (somewhat available in the UI).
The v2 filemanager endpoint (https://api.hubapi.com/filemanager/api/v2/files/) gives more meta data about video files than v3 endpoint but I can’t find the matching playerId/videoId located in the video module. The dated version endpoints return the same data as v3.
Interestingly, in the file manager panel, there’s this code generator when you select the video:
Which generates code that sets the “player_id” to an ID not found anywhere (player_id is not the file id) but is the same used in the video module.
{% video_player "embed_player" overrideable=False, type='scriptV4', player_id="1234567890" %}
Moderator note: While this solution may not address the original poster’s specific situation, it could be helpful for other community members facing similar challenges.
That was conclusion as well. I have this client facing dashboard which uses the Files API to search the videos but like you said, it only returns the file ID.
I send this feedback through the developer feedback form so I hope it would be possible to do this at some point.
Thank you for looking into my issue!
