I’ve been getting a lot of suggestions about how to choose focus keyphrases but I’m not sure the suggestions would fit the website I’m working on. I write articles for a small website that aggregates information about weddings in a location. Some of the articles are about specific individuals’ weddings. The point is just to give a glimpse of the vendors, venues, and other professionals available in the area. What kind of tactics should i use to choose titles and keyphrases?
Hi @alisha35 ,
I definitely suggest you check out this article from HubSpot, I think it would be helpful for you.
Personally, I use Semrush to perform my keyword research. When I’m conducting my research, I’m looking for keywords that are relevant to my target audience, have a high monthly search volume, and a low keyword ranking difficulty.
If you find a keyword that’s got a high search volume but is also difficult to rank for (for example say: Wedding venues in Portland, ME), try researching some longer-tail keywords to find something that might be easier to rank for (for example: outdoor barn wedding venues in Portland, ME).
I hope this helps!

Thank you so much!! Very helpful!
+1 (or more lol) for Semrush @Whathcock for sure. I also love to “play with” Answer the Public to see what else people are searching for in relation to my topics. Have you used that for content research?
Hi @alisha35. In addition to the helpful resource and Semrush suggestion from @Whathcock, may I offer a couple of additional resources? These are from the agency I work for, but I believe in our content as helpful information.
- 10 Local SEO Tactics for Home Services Brands (it’s not wedding venue-specific, but there are some correlations between these services and what you’re working on)
- Beginner’s Guide to Local SEO (in this one there are links to other resources about things like Google Business pages, which could be very beneficial to a brand like you describe)
Hope that also helps!
