Hi all,
Our company contact data has used Full Name as our name field as we work in the APAC region and you don’t always get a first name, last name. When we go to import our data into HubSpot, we can match our Full Name field to the HS Full Name field but this leaves the HS name field empty when we look at a contact record.
My questions are:
1. Does it matter if the Name field isn’t used?
2. I think it does matter, if so, how do we match it as the name field doesn’t appear as a property option?
3. Do we need to split our data into first name, last name? If we did we’d still end up with nothing in the name field?
Confused!
Hi @DJames79,
Generally it is best practice to maintain the first and last name field and simply keep them empty if they’re unknown. Combining both one one field creates issues further down the line, when you want to use them for personalisation or implement a specific salutation logic
This would also be how HubSpot to expects this input.
Best regards!
Hmmm, had a feeling that was the case. Our devs need to find a way of splitting the full name they hold for our internal data. The issue will arise though how to deal with people who either have a single name (many thais use a single name) and many Malaysians have multiple names.
So how does the HS name field get populated if we use the First and Last names?
