On reports, I want to chart monthly-recurring-revenue (MRR on Y--Axis) by “calendar dates (X-Axis)” for forecasting purpose. This MRR is derived from items (SKUs) that are aimed to represent recurring services revenue.
The closed date, create dates fields in “deals” are not useful for this purpose as these dates would in the past and point in time, against MRR would be recognized in future months on an ongoing basis.
How to expose this “Date” or “System Date” property in reports?
Hi @sachinjkulkarni,
It sounds like what you’re trying to accomplish can be achieved with recurring revenue tracking and in the revenue analytics tool. Unfortunately, this is currently limited to Sales Hub Enterprise and Service Hub Enterprise.
Aside from automating monthly deal creation, I don’t of any workarounds to this.
Best regards!
Thank you Karsten. I have explored recurring revenue tracking and in the revenue analytics tool as a part of testing Enterprise solution in my trial period (which will end on this Friday). However, Recurring Revenue tracking report does not show deals with “items” having MRR (and explicitly show deals where RR is specified).
So for reporing MRR from items, I thought to create a custom report and plot MRR against Date. But I do no have an ability to choose Date field. Date is very common system dimension that Excel or any other reporting tool or CRM (like Salesforce) offers out of box. So I am bit surprised why Hubspot does not let to use this feature.
My present workaround is report annual revenue at a deal level and identify such deals as “recurring” and periodic rev recognizing (capturing periodicity say “monthly”) using properties (or custom propertie). I then export data into spreadsheet and wrote some functionas to distribute annual revenue to monthly (avg.). This requires some manual data cruncing which I want to avoid.
My immediate focus - My follow up question is, if I decide to upgrade to Enterprise, will HS Reporting will allow me to use Date scale in custom report? I tried in my Enterprise trial period, but was unsuccessful to do so. If this is possible then how? And if yes, it will help to come to the decision to upgrade to Enterprise.
My ultimate goal is to bring together deals with Quarterly Recurring Revenue (where we use SKUs aka items), MRR, and non-recurring revenue deals in a single report to give my Sales team a view of what’s coming in quarter, or six months or a year from revenue recognition perspective that help them both a) to plan for LAND and EXPAND and 2) As a north star for their goal or quota achievement and a general underatndign about their var comp.
Hence I am looking for some help to get to my immediate focus and ultimate goal.
Thanks,
Sachin
Hi @sachinjkulkarni,
Without working on or seeing the same records as you do, it’s hard to replicate this on my end. If you base your purchase decision on this, I would recommend reaching out to a solutions partner (from the HubSpot Solution Partner directory, [Link removed, website not maintained anymore]
or the Community leaderboard) or to HubSpot Sales. If you’re about to invest a lot of money into an Enterprise license, the sales team should be able to clarify whether this specific reporting you’re looking for can be created or is at least in the development pipeline.
I’d love to be able to help better, but from a community post, without being able to adjust settings, it’s hard to replicate.
Best regards!
