How does the hubspot Merge impact the Salesforce Database?

We are merging contacts in Hubspot. I am curious how this impacts the Salesforce Duplicate records?

Does Salesforce Delete the record?

If not, should we be merging from within Hubspot?

We understand you are looking to see what happens in Salesforce when you have merged in your account. This knowledge base article states;

If you have the HubSpot-Salesforce sync enabled, merging contacts in HubSpot will have an impact on Salesforce.

Please note: if both of the records you merged in HubSpot were syncing with Salesforce, it’s recommended to merge the records in Salesforce. You will want to keep the Salesforce record that’s syncing with the primary contact record in HubSpot.

  • Since each HubSpot record can only link to one Salesforce record, following the merge in HubSpot, only the primary contact will continue to sync to the Salesforce record.
  • If the secondary contact that was merged into the primary contact was syncing to Salesforce, that record in Salesforce will no longer sync to HubSpot because the record no longer exists.

@psupport Hi! We have a few resource articles that help explain this one.

At a high level, merging contacts in HubSpot does not do anything in Salesforce. If you merge a contact in HubSpot into a contact that is not syncing with HubSpot, the sync will disconnect with that record until resynced from the HubSpot Visualforce component on the Salesforce page layout for the lead/contact. It’s best to merge contacts/leads in Salesforce and then merge the corresponding HubSpot contacts if a duplicate exists in both systems.

We desperately need this feature. Doubling up on work in both platforms when you have thousands of duplicates is unrealistic.
Would like to see:

A .csv file that can be exported in specific time intervals (Custom or set) of all record merges in HubSpot indicating the records identified and the merged record with Salesforce ID’s for all (Ideally custom property columns to be exported) that could be provided to salesforce team for bulk merging on their side.

Ex:
1. Joe Doe - Joedoe@noemail.com, Salesforce ID

2. Joe DOEY - JoeDoe@hasemail.com, Salesforce ID -

MERGED RECORD Joe Doe - Joedoe@noemail.com, Salesforce ID

the ability to trigger a merge action on salesforce side. HubSpot is amazing at identifying the duplicate and corresponding SF record in the sync error area however this is incredibly time consuming still and requires a manual 1-by-1 process.

Having filtering tools would also help speed it up. Ex. Contacts with identical phone numbers… just as an example
