How do you identify active buyers?

I would track activity via social media—likes on posts and comments—as well as IP-based traffic to the site, competitor pages, and the people who were looking for a solution to the same problem.

My favorite way to identify active buyers is by leveraging trigger events and social listening on LinkedIn. When a prospect engages with content about a specific industry challenge or posts a relevant job opening, it signals an immediate need. Reaching out at that exact ‘moment of interest’ makes the conversation much more relevant and welcome

For me, it really depends on what I’m selling—whether it’s hardware, software, or a mix—as different factors become important depending on the case. Without repeating the points already well-articulated here, I would add that knowing your competitors is crucial. What are their strengths and weaknesses? Why do customers actually buy from other providers? This information is incredibly helpful for taking your sales to the next level.

An active buyer usually does things like:

  • Visits your pricing/product page
  • Requests a quote or proposal
  • Fills out a contact form
  • Asks about price, availability, or delivery
  • Downloads product information
  • Books a demo or consultation
  • Responds to your sales email
  • Adds a product to their cart
  • Returns to your website several times
  • Compares different products or options
  • Says things like: “How much is it?” “When can I get it?” “What are the payment options?”

Active buyers can be recoginized through prospect engagment on website like filling forms and asking questions about their problem. they can also be identified through social media channels they follow and content they consume if it is around your services.

My favorite way to identify active buyers is by looking for buying signals. I would use LinkedIn, social media, website activity, customer inquiries, referrals, and past interactions to identify people who are already showing interest in a product. I would then qualify them based on their needs, budget, and readiness to purchase. This helps focus time on high-potential leads instead of contacting people randomly.

For me, to identify buyers is the way they acting. So, if they have a lot of interactions online (Linkedin) or if they post content about solutions or problems, and also because, personally i educate myself. Another thing is that thabk you to analytics, now, companies can detect who’s interested. Also, marketng campaigns are key!

Referrals from past clients and local partnerships (mortgage brokers, inspectors, etc) tend to work best. A simple website that shows your listings, local market knowledge, and a way to capture leads helps a lot too, that’s often where people land after a test before they reach out. A free CRM like HubSpot can help you keep track of leads and follow up consistently once they do.

Active buyers can be identified by tracking how regularly they buy.

okay great

I like that you educate them on your offerings, gives more depth.

Lead generation helps, although you might end up attracting competitors who want to study your strategy, but it works.

I identify active buyers buy carefully listening for signals mostly via conversation with them. I’m also able to tell when a prospect calls the office line or reaches out through the website. Going forward, I will leverage the strategies I have learnt in the course.

I believe in sharing strong content and engaging with who engages with me.

I usually do linkedin research to enrich my leads data and also dive deep though their company website,

Also i usually look at competitors social media platform and see the comment. Usually i could find the problems the customers are facing, frequently qna, and some useful information
