How do you identify active buyers?

The kinds of questions they ask allows me to know their identified problem and whether I have the solution for that, if I do then I connect with them

I identify an active buyer by looking for signs that they are ready to make a decision. They ask specific questions about the product or service, compare options, request pricing, and want to know how the solution can meet their needs. They are interested and engaged in the buying process.

Here are few ways I identify them:

  1. Listen for urgency.
    They ask questions like:
    • “Can I still apply for September?”
    • “Which schools are still accepting applications?”
    • “How much is the tuition?”
    • “Can I study with my WAEC results?”
    • “How long does the visa process take?”
  2. Look for life-stage triggers.
    They have recently:
    • Finished WAEC/NECO.
    • Graduated with HND, ND, or a 3rd Class degree.
    • Been denied admission locally.
    • Been refused a visa or university admission.
    • Decided to switch to a nursing or international degree pathway.
  3. Watch their online behavior.
    They:
    • Download our brochure.
    • Attend our webinars.
    • Send me a DM asking about fees.

Buh how do I use hubspot CRM?

Hi Kyle!

My favorite method is combining external intent signals with HubSpot’s native lead scoring.

We map out high-value behaviors—like a prospect viewing a pricing page multiple times, downloading a specific technical blueprint, or repeatedly engaging with our knowledge base. By tying those specific actions to a lead score threshold, the CRM automatically surfaces the contacts who have crossed over from passive education into an active buying window. It allows the team to reach out with high relevance exactly when the prospect is trying to solve the problem.

Technology has become a huge resource in prospecting for your ideal resource. Now with the inclusion of AI, enriching your profiles and qualifying your leads becomes 10x faster. Staying up to date on emerging technologies and understanding how to best utilize those tools are essential to remaining at the top of inbound sales.

I would use the systems in place to build a relevant, enriched customer profile and buyer persona. Once I have those in place, I would scour social media, such as LinkedIn or other platforms depending on the buyer, and stay as engaged as possible. By answering and asking thoughtful questions that I genuinely believe will help the buyer, I can build more involvement with the target group and identify both active and passive buyers. If buyers engage, I can also deepen my understanding of their problems, potential solutions, and interests.

I usually look for buying signals rather than just checking if someone fits the ICP.

Things like recent website activity, pricing/demo interest, LinkedIn activity, company growth, hiring, funding, or a clear business problem.

Then I ask myself: why them, why now, and is there actually a reason for them to buy?

I’ll use social media handles, post educative contents, answer frequently asked questions and convert them to my contacts for follow up. This way I can have passive and active buyerss

Identifying active buyers means paying attention to signals — like people researching your company, exploring your work, visiting your website, or engaging with your existing clients — so you can connect with them at the right time and convert them more easily.

I used to work in the real estate, My fav ways to identify active buyers were following -

  • Using data of people already doing site visit to other real estate project.
  • Finding the people roaming around a new developed area and asking them what do they need and show them our flat if it fits thier need.
  • Finding the leads on FB, People who are already commenting that they need flat, on FB ad and brokers post, and then messaging them on social media or contact them via phone call.

My favorite way to identify active buyers is by monitoring LinkedIn and company websites for buying signals such as job postings, company growth, funding announcements, and people asking for recommendations. I also like using a CRM to track website visitors and prioritize leads who have already shown interest. This approach helps me focus on prospects who are more likely to need the solution.

I market to a very niche group of residential homeowners I like identify these through county records and skip tracing. Then mail them handwritten letters. I know this is not quite as inbound as other methods but this is the most relevant to my business.

I think with my field, identifying my customers it is quite specific. They know exactly what they want. The most important is to engage quicker. In addition, B2B relationships are important and in those cases direct mailing and engaging through linkedin and other social media platforms is a priority.

I identify active buyers by listening carefully to their needs, asking the right questions, and looking for signs that they are ready to make a purchase. This helps me focus on people who are most likely to benefit from the product.

For me it is first helpful to know who my target audience is. Once I know this then I find groups on Facebook or Whatsapp that I know they are most active on and join them and interact with the content people are posting as well as posting content both related to what I want to sell and general content to simply be engaging.

That would be through social research. I look forward to using tools like the HUBSPOT CRM.
