How do I create a download form that includes a checkbox to subscribe for marketing information?

Hello everyone

I thought i had figured it out but apparently i don’t. I’m trying to create a download form for a freebie (lead capture), that has an optional checkbox in it to subscribe for marketing information.

So i’d like to have contacts that download the freebie, but don’t subscribe for marketing information, and contacts that download the freebie and subscribe for marketing information. I figure there’s a checkbox for that available when creating the form.

However, since the email containing the freebie link will be sent automatically with a workflow, i have to check that all contacts who submit the form are automatically classified as marketing contacts, as they can’t receive the automated email otherwise. So if I check this option, every contact that submits the form is already subscribed into marketing information, so the checkbox doesn’t make sense at all?

how do I do this best? is there another way?

Also, i have activated double opt-in so all contacts, the ones who only want the freebie and the ones also subscribing for further marketing information are required to click the link in the double opt-in mail first.

Hi @JBuri. You can add notice and consent information and a checkkbox to your HubSpot forms. But you’re right - if they don’t opt in, they aren’t a marketing contact and you can’t email them their freebie.

How I’d approach this: First, build a thank you page as part of the conversion path. This TYP will include the message, “Thanks for downloading the content, here you go!” with a link to the freebie. This gives them access even if they don’t receive the email.

Then you can have your workflow that looks at what form they’ve filled out, checks the consent property, and marks them as marketing contact. If they don’t meet all the criteria, they’re not marked as an MC, and they won’t continue down the workflow. And that’s really the key in HubSpot. If they are a non-makreting contact, they will not get marketing emails triggered by a workflow.
