How do I change the dropdown options in Project Type when creating a new Deal?

I’ve recently set up HubSpot for the start-up outdoor lighting company I’ve just started working for and used AI with a lot of the setup process.

It created some options for project type and deals, but I’d like to change one of them, but cannot find where to do this.

Is anyone able to give me some direction, please?

Good question and welcome to the HubSpot community!

Some fields can’t be changed after creation, especially if Data has already been entered or if it’s been used somewhere in the CRM, but assuming none of those are true, you should be able to change the Field type within the settings for the field.

  1. You’ll want to navigate to Settings (gear icon)

  2. On the left hand side locate “Data Management” > Select “Properties”

  3. Find the Object housing your property (Contact, Company, Custom Object, etc) from the “Select an Object” dropdown

  4. Search for your property name (can keyword search) and click the blue link to open it’s details

  5. Once inside the Property details, navigate to “Field Type”

  6. IF you can edit the type, it will show a drop down here with several different options like in my first screenshot.

However, if it’s greyed out (like in my 2nd screenshot below), you won’t be able to change it and will most likely need to build a new field as the type you’d prefer.
