How can I find out the exact date when contacts opted in within HubSpot?

Hi HubSpot Community,

I’m trying to track the exact date and time when contacts opted in to receive marketing communications. Is there a way in HubSpot to see when a contact gave their opt-in consent?

Specifically, I want to:

1. Identify the date/time each contact opted in

2. Use this data for segmentation or reporting purposes

If anyone can share how to access this information, whether through properties, reports, or workflows, I’d really appreciate it.

For individual contacts, you can look this up here: Manage your contacts' messaging subscriptions

At scale, you would have to use workflows. HubSpot does not maintain this automatically in properties. Here’s what you’d do:

  • Create a date property (e.g. “Marketing email opt-in date”) Create and edit properties
  • Use a contact-based workflow that enrolls contacts when they’re opted in, then use “Edit record” (workflow action) to log the current date Create workflows
  • Create a report that visualizes the count of contacts (y-axis) and marketing email opt-in date (x-axis)

Unfortunately, this will only work going forward, not retroactively. It is not possible without workflows either.
