Our SEO specialist is asking me to use IronClad family Blog instead of https://blog.ironcladfamily.com
I was able to create a proxy URL redirect from the former to the latter and that seems to have worked for the roots. Still, all the existing blog posts are under https://blog.ironcladfamily.com/\*
How do I make sure my blog root URL as well as all the blog posts under that are displayed under https://ironcladfamily.com/blog/\* without having to do a separate URL redirect for each post?

Hi Diana,
No I am certain per our SEO team’s recommendation that I need to have the blog hosted under a subdirectory. I just dont know how to accomplish that with Hubspot as I do not see this as an option. Our blog is currently configured as a sub domain. My blog settings allow only for those two options as per image attached, so there is no way for us to use the root domain and then add slug “blog”

Hi @SLester - it looks like you only have the blog. domain connected to HubSpot, which means that your website is hosted elsewhere outside of HubSpot.
It is not possible to connect your root domain to more than one CMS to host content, which is why you don’t see the option in the blog settings dropdown.
Unfortunately, the only way to achieve the goal of /blog would be if your website is migrated to HubSpot and your root domain is connected.
This would allow you to update your blog to the root domain and add the /blog as the blog slug instead of using the subdomain.
While subdomains can have an impact on SEO, this can be mitigated by propertly submitting your website and blog sitemaps to Google Search Console and making sure you have proper internal links between the two.
While your SEO specialist is right that /blog is better than .blog, it doesn’t mean that is the only viable option.
@SLester correction, I apologize, I just checked the code of your website and it is hosted on HubSpot.
That makes it a lot easier to update.
Under HubSpot Settings > Content > Domains & URLs, you’ll need to click on “actions” to the right of the blog domain where it shows the subdomain and choose “replace primary domain”
This will allow you to choose your root domain.
Then in your blog settings, you can update the dropdown to the correct domain and add the “blog” to the blog slug so it will be /blog.
Once these are done, HubSpot automatically creates the redirects necessary between the old subdomain and your new settings.

I’m sorry for not answering your follow up question earlier, the answer as you discovered is that nothing happens to your website at the same domain, it just opens up the same domain for the blog.

This should allow you to have a redirect so that eah blog post you publish looks like how your SEO is asking you to do.
