We pay ongoing commission to our partners for deals sent our way, and have done so for many years. I’d like to show a cummulative report of the commission we pay, but only for the last year. My problem is that we’ve had deals close since 2015 that we’re still paying out on, but if I limit the close date the data is gone.
Essentially I’d like to start the chart at 2025, but include the total of past years. Is something like this possible?
If you visualise based on the close date (e.g. on the x-axis), no. The report will inevitably focus in the close date and filter by it implicitly.
What you’re describing sounds like you would need either one deal per year on those partner sales - or another date property than the close date, e.g. current year commission due date.
If you’re looking for a report that correctly cumulates annual commissions however, you’ll need to break multi year deals into annual ones.
Like Karsten mentioned, I’d also recommend creating a custom property like “Commission Payment Date” or something tied specifically to your commission cycle. That way, instead of filtering by close date, you can filter or segment your reports based on when the actual commission payments happen. It keeps your reporting focused on the real activity, even if the original deal closed years ago.
