Help with Creating Report for Top 10 Performing Emails

Hi Community,

I’m trying to create a custom report in HubSpot that shows the top 10 performing marketing emails for a given month. I’d like to measure performance based on metrics like open rate, click-through rate, and overall engagement.

Could someone guide me on:

Which report type I should use in HubSpot?

What filters or properties I need to apply to limit it to the top 10?

Any best practices or templates for email performance reports?

Appreciate any help or suggestions!

While this is possible with the custom report builder and the email analytics data source, have you considered creating and saving a filtered view n the email index page? View and filter records

It’s faster, you can click through to view the emails, filter by publish date, you can edit shown columns (open rate, click rate etc) and sort by each of them quickly as you go. It’s not limited to the top 10 - but that seems to be a bit of an arbitrary requirement if I may say so.

Thanks a lot for the suggestion — the filtered view on the email index page does give me a quick way to see performance, and I’ll definitely use that going forward. :raising_hands:

That said, I’m still curious to know if there’s a way (maybe through the custom report builder or another method) to actually pull out the top 10 best-performing emails in a report format. This would help me share a clean summary with my team each month without manually sorting/filtering.

Would love to know if that’s possible.

@AdityaSharma19 in that case, you would use the custom report builder: Create reports with the custom report builder

  1. Select Marketing email analytics as primary data source and Marketing emails as additional source
  2. Choose a table visualization
  3. Filter report by your preferred date property (e.g. Sent date)
  4. Drag and drop Email name, Markteing email open rate and additional desired metrics into the Columns section of the table
  5. Sort by your desired metric (e.g. open rate)
  6. Click the pencil icon on the Email name to set a limit
