Has anyone noticed changes in their search traffic from AI Overviews?

Just wondering if anyone has seen any changes in their clicks or traffic lately. Curious what others are experiencing.

Hey @Truckeeplumber,

Welcome to the community! :mirror_ball:

AI Overviews (and their impact on organic traffic) have been a hot topic across the SEO world lately.

A few resources that might be relevant while our experts weigh in:

  2. Optimize content and improve brand visibility for AI
  3. Introducing HubSpot AEO: The answer to showing up in AI search engines

Tagging in a few folks who may have some first-hand perspective on this!

Hey @Lnorden2, @rebeccatravels, @evaldas – do you have anything you’d like to add here?

Thanks!!

Run AEO and SEO for a few of my clients.

Some thoughts below:

  • For a managed IT services client I’ve seen Clicks trending down since the last Google Update in late May – a lot of that was due to them prioritizing AI overviews and it makes sense due to overviews displaying above any of the typical SERP results.
  • Even though Clicks are trending down our influenced Organic pipeline (first touch) is up 30% and the leads that come in through Organic search or AI referrals are “ready to buy”
  • We redid their website in early June and move to a Claude Coded site hosted on Vercel and optimized for schemas such as FAQ and Local.
  • We build a Google Search Console project which feeds into our content strategy based on “live” data and we also use Searchable + HubSpot’s AEO tool to help guide content creation.
  • Guides, listicles, review sites still power a lot of what’s happening in AEO (from my PoV) but if you’ve got a strong SEO presence it’s not going out of style and I think it’s a lynchpin to AEO.

Now that you can see Generative AI impressions in Google Search Console we give a lot of weight to what we’re seeing there, and Searchable gives us a really good view on what Prompt clusters and themes/topics we’re showing up for as it relates to the buyer journey.

While things have changed I’ve had to shift my mindset and our clients but as long as we continue to be agile, and drive pipeline things are okay for now

Totally agree pashairshad!
I tested this on https://truckeeplumber.com/ as well, applying some AEO-focused changes and restructuring content around real search questions. I’ve seen actual changes in impressions and query visibility since then. Still tracking it, but the results have been noticeable.
