When we changed our Forms to HubSpot, I noticed some strange behavior inside our Google Ads Account. A lot of conversions don’t seem to get tracked in Google Ads anymore.
We have a thank you page and redirect our customers to that page after they fill out a form.
Are you using page load conversion tracking? If so, be sure that you have the needed tracking code installed on all applicable thank you pages. HubSpot doesn’t allow additional code to be added to starter landing page templates, so I would verify that all tracking is in place accordingly.
I believe HubSpot will append the URL with additional metadata for tracking purposes. However, I don’t believe that would have any bearing on Google Tag Manager/conversion tracking unless you had your page view criteria set to the exact thank you page URL vs contains/starts with.
Yes we use Page Load conversion on our thank you page. And we do not use any Landing Pages from Hubspot. All of our tags are installed on our domain.
I also checked if the conversion tag works properly on the thank you page. And yes it does.
The only funnel where the tag manager loses connection is when we try to go through our HS Contact Form. This is what I can’t seem to figure out. When people go trough our demo form (also from hubspot) they get redirected to the same thank you page and everything tracks properly.
We also set the trigger with a simple contains “thank-you” so the additional stuff in the URL is not the issue.
Hey @YEngellandt, thanks for getting back to me and for the additional details!
I’m honestly not sure what else could be causing this issue. I think your best bet is to open a ticket with HubSpot Support. If you’re able to share those links/screenshots/screen recordings showing the issue, they should be able to help you troubleshoot further and make sure that nothing is off on HubSpot’s end.
Same problem here, I was finally able to make it work using the Custom Event “hubspot-form-success”, (already created for an HS Listener)…just out of stubborness…before that in desperation, I decided to create the Event in Analytics and pull it from there with GAds
Were you ever able to get this issue solved?
We have the exact same problem with some of our hubspot forms breaking our GTM tracking script from firing correctly right now on the redirect to the thank you page.
HubSpot support continue to just send me articles on how to set up a GTM container, and are materially misunderstanding the issue at hand.
Would love to know if/how you were able to work around this?
We’re debating just dropping HubSpot completely and using other platforms with better support and less dependencies.
