Global Solution for Addresses: Country + State

This would help to maintain consistent data.

The single line text field it’s set to causes endless issues with the Salesforce sync.

Hi all - and along with the request to handle country as enum on company - pls assure that mapping to already existing (!) enum for country on invoice-creation behind billing-company will sync and set the country-code automatically on company.

Can the default property State/Region be a Dropdown select when new users get their portal? I know it can be changed easily, but new users will have an issue with even knowing this is an issue.
During onboarding sessions, I ask the client if this is something they would like done and explain why I suggest it, but if they have already imported contacts into their portal, it makes doing it more difficult. It currently is a single line of text which affects filtering and potential reporting later based on what is inputted by the user; you have to account for all possibilities.

State/Region should be a dropdown by default. As stated above, without it filtering the field in other parts/features of the CRM is impossible and spelling mistakes by users cause data and reporting issues.

I am totally surprised about this. I was able to import a standard country picklist to use in Hubspot.
Why is there no similar option for States in the US.

Agree that these kinds of standard data points filled from forms
SHOULD NEVER BE free text fields. THa’ts programming 101.

Come on Hubspot…like seriously disappointed about this and the lack of prioritization.

Definitely needs work here!

HubSpot could really help us by provide this in a systematic manner with easily available data: https://unece.org/trade/cefact/unlocode-code-list-country-and-territory

This is the UN LOCODE database of countries and areas. So useful!

Has this been resolved in any way with conditional logic?
I aimed to map a new State picklist with the State Province code picklist property in Salesforce, however error messages appear as you need ALL states in all countries on one list. Conditional logic therefore, can’t be applied when picking USA, and only revealing the US states.

Instead, the only workaround I can think of is to have multiple custom properties for state for different countries (which isn’t feasible) and then to apply conditional logic to each on forms, or at the account level. From there, you could create a workflow to then copy the picklist value as a ‘copy to property’ for the single text field in Mailing State Province.

This seems to be the only way to have Sales see the value in Salesforce…

I think it would be more than beneficial as the current process opens up to user errors / mis typing / utilising a variety of terms to address the same location - e.g. USA / United States / United States of America, Holland / Netherlands; United Arab Emirates / UAE or United Kingdom / Great Britain / UK / England as just a couple of examples. If you try then to filter by country you may inadvertently miss certain entries as they are not within the specified filter criteria.

In Salesforce there is definitely a defined country / state list option

Hi HubSpot community, I’m Sabrina and I work in HubSpot product.

What you’re describing is something we’re actively prioritizing on our roadmap. If you’re open to it, I’d love to connect and learn more about your use cases, and walk through a few design concepts to make sure we’re building the right solution for customers. Thank you!

I’m baffled that this has’nt got higher priority and attention. Countries have an international standardisation. The country field should be able to be set to this, or at least converted to a drop down. Salesforce provide this now. For any company serious about data management, changing this is basically mandatory. I should’nt have to create a workflow to manage this.
