Hello,

I have seen this question asked several times over the years, but was wondering if there have been any updates since.

Is it still not possible to retrieve user permissions (like Super Admin, Contacts, Sales, etc) from the API?

I have tried making calls to the Users Provisioning API because the roleId property sounded interesting, but I only received an error message “Account doesn’t have access to roles” (I have a free account). Even if I made a successful call, I’m not sure how to interpret the roleId.

I have also made GET requests to the v2 Owners API to see the hasContactsAccess property, which I assumed to be set to true for any user that had access to an account’s contacts. I was surprised to see that hasContactsAccess was set to false for myself, even though I am a Super Admin, so it seems I am misunderstanding this property.

If anyone can shed some light on any of these things, I would be extremely grateful. Thank you for the help!

Hi @MJin,

The User Provisioning API has expanded since 2021. Check the current subscription and scope requirements for the specific operation rather than assuming the entire API is Enterprise-only.

More details here - [Create and assign permission sets](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/settings/create-roles)

After this API call, you will get the roleId as mentioned in the doc. HubSpot now offers additional user and permissions APIs, but these don’t necessarily provide a complete role definition from a `roleId`.

This is how I made this work for 1 of our customers -

We have a local database of role details and roleId, and I’m using that as a reference to match the roleId.

Hope this helps,

Regards,

I was not aware that the users provisioning API only applies to Enterprise accounts. Thank you!

Here, you need to pass your user ID and your API token key.
