I saw some headlines yesterday that I found fascinating. Denmark is working to protect people’s identies from deepfakes built with AI by passing laws that would allow their citizens to copyright their face, body, and voice. It hasn’t passed yet, but it is one of the first countries to take protective steps like this.
It is just an interesting time to live through because all of this AI technology is changing so rapidly and so many aspects of life are having to adapt.

That’s such a smart move by Denmark - getting ahead of the deepfake issue before it becomes a bigger problem. It’s wild how fast all this AI stuff is moving and how laws are scrambling to catch up.

We could learn a lot from how they’re thinking about this - always better to anticipate the challenges than react to them later.

I’ll throw one in there. This is a few weeks old now, but Project Vend by Anthropic.

They setup Claude to run a vending machine business within their office in San Francisco. It was prompted to identify and stock “popular products” and ultimately run a profitable business without human intervention.

It ultimately failed and missed opportunities but one of the biggest takeaways was how close it was to being successful. One of my takeaways is that we are largely underestimating the potential of modern AI tools. There is a huge gap between “write me an email” and “create a profitable business for me” but most people are looking at the former.

Thanks for sharing this - Project Vend is a perfect example of what we discussed yesterday about approaching AI with curiosity and experimentation.

It’s a compelling reminder that we’re in a phase where the most valuable insights come from practical testing rather than theoretical speculation. The models are clearly capable of more sophisticated reasoning and autonomous action than most people assume, but the only way to map those boundaries is through direct experience.

Interesting: just this morning at the beach my friend was talking to me how lovely would it be to ask AI to create a profitable business. We are probably getting close, very close :slightly_smiling_face:
