Funnel report for CTA to form submission conversion

I created a lightbox CTA to drive more traffic to a piece of downloadable content. I know know the click through conversion rate, but would like to create report that goes one step further and shows who then submitted the form that the lightbox directed to.

I keep trying to set up a funnel report for this but I can’t seem to yield a result that is connecting the flow of one activity to the other. Any advice on the report settings I should be working with?

Hey @heyitsmariel ,

Hope these steps help you get right approcah :

Creating a CTA-to-Form Submission Funnel Report in HubSpot

To track the conversion from a CTA click to a form submission, follow these steps:

Step 1: Create a Custom Report

- Navigate to Reporting & Data > Reports in your HubSpot account
- Click “Create custom report”

Step 2: Set Up the Funnel Report

- Choose “Funnel report” as the report type
- Set up two steps:
- Step 1: CTA Click
- Event type: CTA click
- Filter by CTA guid or name
- Step 2: Form Submission
- Event type: Form submission
- Filter by the specific form directed by the CTA

Step 3: Configure the Report

- Adjust the time range using the Date range dropdown menu to cover the period when the CTA and form were active
- Ensure the filters are set correctly to track the desired CTA and form

or

Report Settings:

1. Report Type: Select “Funnel Report”
2. Object: Choose “Contacts”
3. Filter: Set up two filters:
- Filter 1: “Clicked CTA” (select the specific lightbox CTA)
- Filter 2: “Submitted Form” (select the specific form)
4. Funnel Stages: Define two stages:
- Stage 1: “CTA Click” (use the “Clicked CTA” filter)
- Stage 2: “Form Submission” (use the “Submitted Form” filter)
5. Time Frame: Choose a relevant time frame (e.g., last 30 days)
6. Frequency: Set to “Daily” or “Weekly” to track conversions over time

Additional Tips:

- Ensure the CTA and form are properly connected in HubSpot (i.e., the CTA directs to the form)
- Use the “AND” operator to connect the two filters (Clicked CTA AND Submitted Form)
- If you want to track the conversion rate, add a “Conversion Rate” column to the report
- Consider adding additional filters (e.g., source, campaign) to segment your data

Common Issues:

- Make sure the CTA and form are properly set up and connected in HubSpot
- Check that the filters are correctly applied and not conflicting with each other
- Verify that the time frame and frequency settings are appropriate for your analysis

By following these steps, you should be able to create a funnel report that shows the conversion from CTA clicks to form submissions.

Step 4: Save and Export the Report

- Click “Save as report” and enter a report name
- Choose to add the report to an existing dashboard or create a new one
- Click “Save & add”
- Export the report if needed

This setup will provide a funnel report showing the conversion from CTA clicks to form submissions, identifying the contacts who completed the form.
