Hi Everyone,
I am part of a Cybersecurity Seed Stage startup; and we’re fundraising. my colleague started to just create a filer and put the category “Investor” and “interest level”; I thought that was great but somehow I prefer the deal pipeline function.
I came to the point: maybe I don’t need a deal pipeline; maybe it just works with the filtering/ properties function.
Question: When do you recommend creating a pipeline vs just using properties and filtering it? Any lessons learned?
Cheers,
Mikel
Hi @MikelMangold_CP,
I generally recommend not to use the deal pipelines for these cases. Because I prefer to use lifecycle stage settings below and the deal object has some default properties which are irrelevant for your most other use cases.
Most of the time custom company properties will enable you to track exactly what you want. A combination of views and dashboards specifically for investors should also give you the overview you need. If you are on an enterprise plan, custom objects might be a good alternative.
Hope this helps!

Hi @Jonas_De_Mets ;
so great to have your input here! (A) So basically; you would recommend to change the lifecycle setting? Or do you mean keeping it as it is?
(B) In short; If I understood well; you recommend just adding a customer property setting to filter out what we need; e.g “investment amount”; “interest level”; etc?
(C) Regarding the dashboard; yup I understood.
(D) Customized object; I haven’t tried it yet; maybe for next time
Cheers!
Hi @MikelMangold_CP,
Happy to help!
(A) Keep the lifecycle settings as is.
(B) Correct!
(C) Perfect. Extra tip: A custom property “investor stage” with options “1 ABC”, “2 DEF” etc will help you create a pipeline chart in the reports.
(D) Custom object might be overkill for now, but maybe interesting in the future!
Good luck implementing this and with your seed round!
