I’m working on integrating **Umbraco forms** with HubSpot to push form submissions into HubSpot forms via the API. I’ve come across the [v2 API documentation for form submissions](https://developers.hubspot.com/docs/reference/api/marketing/forms/v2#submit-data-to-a-form), which seems to provide a way to send form submissions.

However, I noticed that the v2 API is marked as old, and I can’t find equivalent documentation or endpoints for form submissions in **v3**. Does this mean HubSpot is moving away from recommending API-based form submissions? Or have I missed something in the v3 documentation?

If v2 is the only way to handle this, is it still safe to use for new projects, or are there alternatives HubSpot suggests?

Any guidance or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Hi @Spinks

here is the curl that is working fine for me on the form submission

```lia-code-sample
curl -X POST https://api.hsforms.com/submissions/v3/integration/submit/<portalId>/<formId> \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{
 "fields": [
 {
 "name": "email",
 "value": "example@example.com"
 },
 {
 "name": "firstname",
 "value": "John"
 },
 {
 "name": "lastname",
 "value": "Doe"
 }
 ],
 "context": {
 "hutk": "user-tracking-token",
 "pageUri": "https://www.example.com/contact",
 "pageName": "Contact Us"
 },
 "legalConsentOptions": {
 "consent": {
 "consentToProcess": true,
 "text": "I agree to allow Example Company to store and process my personal data.",
 "communications": [
 {
 "value": true,
 "subscriptionTypeId": 999,
 "text": "I agree to receive marketing communications."
 }
 ]
 }
 }
}'
```

HubSpot currently recommends using the **v2 Forms API** for pushing form submissions, as there is no equivalent v3 endpoint specifically for form submissions. While the v2 API is labeled as older, it remains fully supported and safe to use for new projects. However, ensure you monitor for updates to HubSpot’s APIs, as they may introduce newer methods in the future.

If you’re concerned about API longevity or best practices, consider using HubSpot’s tracking code API to capture submissions directly on your website or explore third-party middleware options to manage the integration.

I am having similar issues as the original poster, but I cannot find the exact endpoint under v2 Forms documentation ([Update an existing form - HubSpot docs](https://developers.hubspot.com/docs/api-reference/legacy/forms-v2/forms/put-forms-v2-forms-form_guid)) that allows submissions of data to an existing form. The v2 group seems to be related to creation, editing, and deleting the whole form as a structure, not the data that is submitted through it.

Could you point me in the right direction please?

Thanks!

Hi @VNovTraceParts and welcome, it’s a pleasure to have you here!
Great question, thanks for asking the HubSpot Community!
To submit data to an existing form, you’ll want to use the Form Submissions API, which is separate from the Forms management API (that one’s just for creating, editing, or deleting forms).
There are two submission endpoints you can use:

- [Unauthenticated](https://developers.hubspot.com/docs/api-reference/legacy/forms-v3-legacy/post-submissions-v3-integration-submit-portalId-formGuid): POST /submissions/v3/integration/submit/{portalId}/{formGuid}
- [Authenticated](https://developers.hubspot.com/docs/api-reference/legacy/forms-v3-legacy/post-submissions-v3-integration-secure-submit-portalId-formGuid): POST /submissions/v3/integration/secure/submit/{portalId}/{formGuid}
Just as a heads up: the management endpoints you were checking out (from Forms v2) are specifically for managing the structure of your forms, but they don’t support submitting data.

If you have any other questions, I’m happy to help! 🧡

Hi Bérangère, thank you for your prompt reply!

I am already using the authenticated version of the Form submission API, but my concern is that currently, both authenticated and unauthenticated versions of the endpoints are flagged as Legacy. I assume this means that over time they will become deprecated and unsupported, so I was looking for alternatives and/or equivalent API calls that are not Legacy. Is there such an API call? Or should I continue using the abovementioned endpoints for form submission?

Thanks!

Hey @VNovTraceParts and thanks getting back to us!
The form submission endpoints you’re using (/submissions/v3/integration/secure/submit/ and /submissions/v3/integration/submit/) are considered legacy, but currently, there isn’t a newer alternative for submitting form data.
The v3 Forms API focuses on form management, not submissions.

Submission endpoints will be updated in the future. For now, it’s best to continue using the authenticated legacy endpoint ([/submissions/v3/integration/secure/submit/{portalId}/{formGuid}](https://developers.hubspot.com/docs/api-reference/legacy/forms-v3-legacy/post-submissions-v3-integration-secure-submit-portalId-formGuid)) until we release a new version.
Thanks,

Thank you [@BérangèreL](https://community.hubspot.com/t5/user/viewprofilepage/user-id/230185)

Unfortunalely the \* Docs \* Team \* broke another \* \* \* link.
Here are the current links:

> **[Submit data to a form (unauthenticated) - HubSpot docs](https://developers.hubspot.com/docs/api-reference/legacy/marketing/forms/v3-legacy/submit-data-unauthenticated)**
>
> Send form submission data to a HubSpot form, specified by form ID. This endpoint supports cross-origin (CORS) AJAX requests.

> **[Submit data to a form (supporting authentication) - HubSpot docs](https://developers.hubspot.com/docs/api-reference/legacy/marketing/forms/v3-legacy/submit-data-authenticated)**
>
> Send form submission data to a HubSpot form, specified by form ID. This endpoint requires authentication and has higher rate limits.

That should work until the \* Docs \* Team \* \* break the docs again.
