Hi,

We are trying to create “abandoned form” workflows for our contacts based on the form interaction event enrollment trigger with a filter that the form was not submitted. I understand that you can’t test workflows within HubSpot that have the form interaction event trigger. Is there any other way to see that this workflow is working correctly? It would be helpful in troubleshooting any errors.

Here’s a screenshot of the WF trigger to add context:

Re-enrollment is also enabled.

Thank you!

Hi @CScott9,

You can always test by adding an addition enrollment criterion, e.g. “Email is any of [your email address]”, set the workflow live and then check if it shows the correct behavior when you interact with the form.

Another thing, from what you described, I think the filters in group 1, 2, and 3 would have to be connected by the AND operator, not the OR operator. Currently, a contact would have to have submitted all three forms to not enroll. Assuming that at least one form submission is enough for a contact not to enroll, you would have to use the AND operator.

Or in other words: If you a contact with only one form submission to still enroll, OR is correct. If you want a contact with one form submission out of the three not to enroll, AND would be correct.

Best regards

Hi @karstenkoehler,

Thank you for your reply.

Ideally the contact would enroll even if they submitted one of the three forms, but not the other two. Or if they submitted two of the three forms, but not one. So the AND operator would allow this? And is this screenshot showing what you were talking about:

@CScott9 in your screenshot, you haven’t added the additional criterion I mentioned in my previous reply.

Regarding the and/or: So you only want contacts **not** to enroll if they submitted **all three** forms then? In that case, OR would be correct.

@karstenkoehler I didn’t want to display in the screenshot the email address that would be used, but I will add it when I test it.

To your second question: yes. If they interacted with and submitted Request a Quote form but later interacted with and did not submit the Connect with Team form, they would need to be enrolled. Our next action would be to add them to an ad audience if they abandoned the form, but I haven’t started that yet because I want to make sure the trigger works. Do you happen to know how HubSpot detects/identifies which contact interacted with a form?

@CScott9 it’s starting to get a bit contradictory.

A contact sees one of three forms. You’d like to enroll them if they don’t submit any of the tree then, that’s what I understand from what you’re saying? If they see one of the three, then so Blut any of the three, all would be fine, wouldn’t it?

Now that you explained what you’re trying to achieve, you would have to remove the form filters from the enrollment trigger anyway. You would trigger the workflow basen on the form view, then delay by a day or so (to actually give the contact time to submit the form), then use a branch to check whether they submitted 1 or 2 or 3. If not, you could add them to your audience.

Without the delay, all contacts would enroll. At the time of viewing a form, likely none of the will already have submitted one.

@karstenkoehler but the trigger is not if they only see/view the form, it’s if they actually click into one of the text fields to begin to fill out the form, but do not submit it (interacting with it). We could change the trigger event to a form view, but we wanted refine the ad audience to those who were actually engaging/showing interest in the form by interacting with it. If it’s not possible to do this with the form interaction event trigger, we can just go forward with the form view event trigger like you suggested.

Thank you for your help!

@CScott9 still, filling a form happens before completing it, meaning that at the time of filling, contacts would already enroll and they would be considered someone who just abandoned the form in your current workflow, if you don’t incorporate a delay.

@karstenkoehler Yes, I think adding a delay and a branch to check whether the form has been submitted are good suggestions. Thank you!
