I am creating an email template using the Message Templates tool in the CRM section. I have added several personalization tokens and most of them format correctly. However, I have two personalization tokens that are filling data from a rich text property that do not match the font size of the email nor the rich text property.
The rich text property is 16px, this is what I see when I look at the properties list:
This is a test
This is also a test
The body of the email (including the personalization token) is 14pt.
The text that is filled from the personalization token is always 11pt.
I tested other properties of the rich text field such as color and font style and those translate correctly but the font size in the email template is always 11pt no matter what I change. I also tried deleting and re-adding the personalization tokens. What am I missing?
I can see on this article " Understand property field types in HubSpot " that rich-text values are best used as separate paragraphs rather than inline text. Could you please try with a multi-line text property to see if it helps?
Welcome to the Community @ii_kyle. From what I can tell and what I know of HubSpot after using it for so long, I don’t think you’re missing a setting. This appears to be a limitation, or maybe a rendering defect, of rich text CRM property values when they’re injected into a CRM Message Template: HubSpot preserves some inline styles (such as color, bold, italic, and font family), but the generated HTML or the template/editor styling is applying a fixed 11 pt font size to the rich-text token content.
HubSpot’s documentation notes that rich text property content is rendered as a paragraph by default and works best as a separate paragraph rather than inline content. That paragraph-level markup can carry its own styling and override the 14 pt styling of the surrounding template body.
Here’s the workaround I’d try if you need the inserted content to display at the email’s standard 14 pt size. I’d use a multi-line text property rather than a rich-text property, provided you don’t need the property to control its own styling.
Create a new property with the Multi-line text field type.
Store only the copy and line breaks in that property; do not include formatting.
Insert that property in its own paragraph in the Message Template.
Format the paragraph in the template at 14 pt.
That lets the email template control all visual styling consistently. It is the more maintainable option for reusable CRM email templates.
Something to be aware of: HubSpot says multi-line text line breaks are not supported consistently in some tools, including emails, whereas rich text properties are intended to retain formatting. So test with a real preview and sent email before converting a production process.
There may be other workarounds out there if you ask Breeze in your portal or look at other sources like Perplexity, but this one is what I’d start with. Hope that helps!
