Hi team,

I am looking to create a report to show all contacts that have ordered for the first time this month. This is to show them in the report irrespective of how many subsequent orders they have made.

Our set up is:
Customer = contact

Order = Closed won deal

Thank you!

Hi @ADyer234,

Are you maintaining the _Deal type_ property? If so, this could be as easy as:

- Filtering report by Deal type = New business AND Is closed won = True
- X-axis: Close date
- Y-axis: Count of deals

Best regards

Hi Karsten,

Unfortuantely we aren’t using the deal type field no.

Best wishes,

Amy

@ADyer234 are you able to backfill it and start using it? I would consider it a best practice.

Alternatively, you can create a company property for the date that someone turns into a customer and populate it via workflow – then build a company-based report. This would require exporting the lifecycle stage history, then re-importing the dates for the customer values to get the historic data.

Still, having information on new and existing business will also help with other reporting questions and generate important insights.

Hi @ADyer234

Just to clarify, do you mean their first order/deal ever or the first order this month?

I think either way you somehow need to timestamp the “first order” information either on the deal or contact via a workflow or roll up property.

Or am I overthinking this @karstenkoehler ? 🤔🤯

I am wanting to see the contacts who have ordered for the first time ever.

I have managed to pull a report together to see the contacts who have only one closed won deal attached to them, however they would then fall off the report if they go on to order again. This is what I’m trying to avoid.

Sounds like it may not be easily doable with the information we currently have in our system.

@ADyer234 if it’s about contacts, and unless you have turned of lifecycle stage automation in the settings, simply do Count of Contacts on the y-axis and “Date entered (Customer)” on the x-axis.

Hi Karsten, I need to see the list of which contacts it was rather than the overall number.

</div>

@ADyer234 then you could go to the contact index page (Menu → CRM → Contacts), add a column for “Date entered (Customer)”, sort (descending) by that date, then filter the view by “Date entered (Customer) is known”.

Thank you. I have just tried this but it’s showing up people that had their first deal closed in July so it isn’t accurately showing those who have ordered for the first time this month

@ADyer234 I’m not following. In a previous reply you said this: “I am wanting to see the contacts who have ordered **for the first time ever**.”

If you want to exclude contacts who became a customer before this month, just set an additional filter for “Date entered (Customer) is This month”.
