Hello,

I have an email template that is triggered through deal based workflow and it fetches property fields from the deal itself

for example: “{{ DEAL.customer\_full\_name }} / {{ DEAL.customer\_last\_name }}” / {{ DEAL.amount }}

I would like to fetch data from the custom object associated to this deal, but i am not able to do so.

Any help would be appreciated!

Hey, @ChrisChiha 👋 You are hitting up against a system limitation. Meaning, you cannot mix object personalization tokens in an automated email triggered from a workflow.

`The type of token must match the type of automation. For example, you can only send emails with Deal personalization tokens from deal-based workflows. `

Example:

Deal-based workflow can use deal personalization tokens but not Contact, Company, Custom, etc

This is one of the cases where there isn’t a direct workaround. Not my favourite answer to give, and I want to be direct, so you don’t waste time looking for a documented solution.

Best,

Jaycee

Hello [@Jaycee\_Lewis](https://community.hubspot.com/t5/user/viewprofilepage/user-id/127074) ,

Thanks for your reply, sad news!

I was able to achieve this with Hubl quote templates, fetching data from all associated objects. Thought it can be done similarly for email templates as well.

Thank you!
@ChrisChiha

Hey, @ChrisChiha! Agree 100%. I bumped up against this one a few times when I was in support. It’s a pretty narrow restriction and frustrating as heck when you hit it 🙃

Have a wonderful weekend! — Jaycee

Could you not use [programmable email](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/email/create-programmable-emails) to lookup the needed associations using a module in the email?
