Greetings in the New Year.

I have an existing CRM with ~3500 records. I exported the Contact information, including HubSpot’s Record ID, to an Excel spreadsheet. The Record ID is exported as text, not a number, and has 5 digits. I used that spreadsheet to construct an import for new Deals, one for each contact.

On import, I consistently get an error when I try to map the Record ID column to the Record ID. I have tried importing the file as an .xslx, a .csv, and formatted the Record ID as a 10 digit number, a 5 digit number, and as text. All attempts fail.

Note that I am importing with the newer step of mapping Record ID in the “Map” screen:

Thanks in advance for any help on this issue!

Hi @BHSMgr

When you say you have an existing CRM, is that also HubSpot or a different tool?

What object are you importing? Deals or contacts?

You won’t be able to import deals using a record ID for contacts, that’s probably what causes the error.

You should try and import multiple objects (deals and contacts), the import file should contain the deal information and all you need to match your existing contacts is either the contact email or record id.

Hope that helps.

Frank

Hi @BHSMgr looking at the image you uploaded, it looks like you are probably improrting contacts into the Deal object which is causing the error. Try uploading into the Contacts object and that should work. Hope it helps

Perfect. Recall, you kiddos at home, that Contacts and Deals never mix!
