Error: This form can’t be cloned

We are unable to clone a form.

Hovering the grey Clone button displays the “This form can’t be cloned” message although we are in a role (Settings > Users & Teams) with granted access to the forms tools.

User permissions:

Same here! With my SuperAdmin user it works though.

Hi @pietergoyens @folked

Thank you for reaching out.

Do you have this issue with all your forms, or specific ones? For example, if this happening with blog comments form, this is expected behaviour.

If this is happening with other forms, I would recommend connecting with HubSpot Technical Support, as Support is included in both your subscriptions and they will be able to provide real-time assistance for this matter.

Hope that helps.
Have a lovely day,
Tiphaine.

Hi @TitiCuisset

Thanks for the quick turnaround and we will connect with the HubSpot Technical Support team.

In our case, this issue applies to all forms.

Have an amazing weekend,

Pieter-

The issue is caused when a contact does not have access to Marketing contacts, and because of that they are unable to clone and/or create forms. So for this role, I changed the team’s permission and granted them access to Marketing contacts.

Steps to take:

  • Go to Settings > Users & Teams
  • Select Roles tab
  • Click on the role you want to change
  • Select Account (on the More tab)
  • Enable Marketing contacts access

Many thanks to Adeel from the HubSpot Support Team for helping us out.
The HubSpot engineering team is aware that the error message, in this case, is misleading and they are working on correcting this.

Pieter-

Thank you for sharing with the Community @pietergoyens !

Thanks @pietergoyens for sharing. However, this does not make any sense to me. Why is this function linked to the Marketing Contacts access? I want my users to clone forms, I do NOT want them to have access to Marketing Contacts.

Since 2021, the Marketing contacts access permission has moved to:

Account > Settings access

This is true for individual users, at least.

Hi @BCampbell09, thank you for your contribution.
Just to clarify, to give marketing access, you need to go to:
Settings > Users & Teams > Edit permissions (of one of the users) > in the “Choose permissions” section, click on “Marketing”, and there you’ll find the toggle to “Marketing Access”.
This is to add Marketing to the user’s main menu. To give them access to tools like email, ads, social, SMS, and forms. Along with website tools and the ability to approve content.
Thanks and have a great day!
