Hi, I’m using HubSpot’s free tools and publishing blog posts on the default system domain.
My portal ID: [Hub ID]
I published a blog article, and in the editor under Settings → General → Post URL, the URL is:
https://HubID.hs-sites-na3.com/reflections-of-a-thinking-mind-thoughts-on-work-life-and-learning/literature/poem-rainbows-brighten-and-add-color-to-the-sky-response-brenda-arledges-word-prompt-week-38
The post is Published. When I click Copy link and paste this into the browser address bar, I get:
“This site can’t provide a secure connection
[HubID].hs-sites-na3.com sent an invalid response.
ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR”
I see the same behavior in different browsers and on a different device. If I paste the URL into a search engine instead of the address bar, it just shows unrelated search results, so the page itself is not loading at all.
I’m not using a custom domain — this is the default HubSpot system subdomain ([HubID].hs-sites-na3.com ).
Because I’m on free tools, I don’t have “Contact support” in the in‑app Help, only “Talk to sales,” so I can’t open a direct support ticket.
Could someone from HubSpot please check the SSL / HTTPS configuration for [HubId].hs-sites-na3.com and help me get this blog URL working?
Thank you.
Moderation note: The HubSpot Community is a public space. I have therefore edited your content for security & confidentiality reasons.
Hi @VSAGAR1 and welcome, we are so glad to have you here!
Thanks for outlining the details with the HubSpot Community, this really helps.
On the free tools, SSL configuration for the default HubSpot system domain is typically automatic, but sometimes blog URLs can take a short while to become active after publishing.
I see you tried on different browsers, but opening the link in an incognito window may also help.
If the issue persists, you can share a screenshots of the SSL error and I can take a closer look or flag it internally.
Happy to help you get your blog up and running!
Thanks,
Bérangère
Please note, I will be out of the office on February 2nd and 3rd.
Hi @VSAGAR1 ,
SSL errors on the default HubSpot subdomain can be frustrating, but the good news is that since its fully managed by HubSpot, once they’re aware of it they usually get these resolved pretty quickly.
A few things worth trying in the meantime though. Can you access just the root of your subdomain?
Try going to https://[HubID].hs-sites-na3.com without the blog path and see if that loads or gives the same SSL error. If the root works but the blog URL doesnt, it might point to something specific about that page or URL structure. Your URL is quite long with nested folders, which shouldnt cause SSL issues but its worth testing a shorter path.
Also try accessing the blog listing page rather than the specific post, something like https://[HubID].hs-sites-na3.com/blog if you have one set up. This helps isolate whether its an SSL problem across the whole subdomain or something specific to that URL.
The ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR specifically means the browser and server couldnt agree on a secure connection protocol. Since you mentioned its happening across browsers and devices, that pretty much rules out local cache or browser issues on your side.
Bérangère’s offer to flag it internally is great, HubSpot’s team is usually responsive with these infrastructure things. If you can share a screenshot of the error and confirm whether the root domain works, that should help them investigate faster. // Note: This response was written based on my own experience and lightly reformatted with AI for clarity.
Hope it gets sorted soon!
