Hello,

I need some help regarding enrolling contacts manually.

After creating a list to manually enrol into a workflow, HubSpot informed me that none of the contacts were enrolled because they were part of a suppression list. I am a little confused as to why this would happen because I know that the contacts meet all the filter criteria of the workflow AND are also not part of the master suppression list that we use for our other mailings. I also checked and these contacts have received and engaged with our other manually sent out mailings, such as invitations to webinars.

Do you have any other ideas as to why this would happen? This is an urgent matter as no contacts appear to be entering the flow, whether automatically or manually.
Can you please assist? Thank you.

Could you be a bit more specific where exactly you saw this? Were the contacts not enrolled in the workflow or were they enrolled but the automated emails not sent? Can you share a screenshot of the status / error message?

There are multiple tools you might be referring to:

- Workflow exclusion list (workflow setting) [Manage workflow settings](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/workflows/manage-your-workflow-settings#unenrollment-and-suppression)
- Contact considered unengaged (email setting) [Understand graymail and avoid sending email to unengaged contacts](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/marketing-email/what-is-graymail-and-how-can-i-avoid-sending-my-email-to-unengaged-contacts#manage-graymail-suppression-for-a-specific-email)
- Missing marketing contact status (contact property value) [Set contacts as marketing](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/records/set-contacts-as-marketing)

… just to name a few of a much longer list.

You can also test specific contacts against workflow criteria: [Test your workflow](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/workflows/test-your-workflow#test-records-against-your-workflow-enrollment-triggers)

If you do so with an example contact and share a screenshot of what you’re seeing, that would also help.

Best regards

Hi Mr. Köhler,

I saw the message when viewing the workflow enrollment history. I have attached an image for your reference.

In response to your suggestions, I think that it is unlikely that all 90+ leads were not enrolled because of unengagement or not being marked as marketing contacts. I have already checked their status previous to creating the list.

In addition, I do think that perhaps an exclusion list is the reason for this outcome. However, I also applied the our ‘master-suppression list’ as a filter criteria for the manual list. Could another exclusion list be at play here?

Thank you for your assistance.

Hi @LRrokaj,

Have you checked the _Settings and notifications_ tab in your workflow? Exclusion lists are applied there.
