When an engagement is created throught the API, I am not able to set the property _hs\_created\_by._ When I read the description of the property, I noticed that it is defined as a Read Only, which seems very odd to me.
I normally make use of: _hubspot\_owner\_id_ property which can be filled with an owner id, which has the meaning of the meeting being Assigned to a user but for me is important to also keep track of who booked the meeting, since many times the person who’s creating the meeting does not match with who will be hosting it.
So when the _hs\_created\_by_ property sounds like it should be the right property to write into.
Can I somehow modify the Write Only nature of the property? or why is this not writeable through the API?

Hi @AGuevaraE

The Created By property is one of the many properties that Hubspot automatically updates for data accuracy. It is read-only because it’s not something set manually by the user.

When a record is created within Hubspot, Hubspot can see which user is doing that based on who is signed in and who is performing the action. When you create records via API, they don’t have the ability to see which user it may be coming from, so it will just reports it as “Created By Integration/API” or something like that.

Could you create a custom property to map instead? With the Hubspot User property type, you may be able to get similar results.

Hi @zachh thanks for your response!
Sadly creating a custom property for the Meeting is not possible as far as I understand (seems like [that feature is not plan for the forseable future](https://community.hubspot.com/t5/HubSpot-Ideas/Custom-properties-for-Activities-Tasks-Meetings-etc/idi-p/204853/page/4#comments) either), so sadly that’s not a viable workaround

yeah, which is a bit unfortunate since when using an integration the expectation is to have it connected at an organization level, so then this kind of important information gets lost.
