I’m a CPA. I bill hourly. Most often I don’t spend an entire hour on an engagement. I might spend 45 minutes on bookkeeping for a client. With my former invoicing solution (Quickbooks Online) I could simply enter 0.8 hours to round to the nearest tenth of an hour, times my billable rate (currently $121/hr), and it would create an invoicable output of $96.80…
For some reason, HubSpot Invoicing is completely capable of this computation, but disables billing of less than a whole number of 1. So to invoice for 0.8 hours I have to either use a smaller billable unit of 6 minutes and charge the client for 8x 6-minute units (this is completely ridiculous), OR I have to apply a 20% discount to 1 billable hour (equally ridiculous because I’m not discounting my time -- I simply didn’t spend the whole hour on the engagement).
This is really problematic for anyone who invoices on an hourly basis, because in my experience we rarely land on whole numbers for our billing.
