Come On this should not be hard.

Emploie Lorie is with Company A. So in her record I click companyname and change it to company B.

Now all employees from Company A are associated with Company B.

This should not be hard to do

Hi @JRGies,

It sounds like you changed the name of the associated company – which is not a contact field but a company field. If you’re updating the company, that means all associated contacts are now associated to that updated company.

If that’s not what you did, could you please share a screenshot of where exactly you made the update?

Generally, I would not recommend changing existing records when someone leaves a company but doing the following:

  • Create new company record
  • Create new contact record
  • Add a note to the old records with context about the contact leaving companies / using a custom property to flag the old record as not being active anymore

All of the logged activity on that contact record relates to their previous role so it’s typically best to treat this person like a new record – and use a note to link to the old one.

Best regards!
