Would be really helpful to be able to run a test with an email using personalization tokens of an associated custom object in its body.

Right now it appears empty in the arriving test mail, even if the test contact I choose has all the values set in its associated custom object.

Pls make sure that this relation can also be tested and I do not need to run live tests with every email I create like this.

Thanks!

[@thombü](https://community.hubspot.com/t5/user/viewprofilepage/user-id/88888) how are you adding personalization tokens for custom objects to your emails? are you adding the hubl directly?

Because custom objects can’t be added as true personalization tokens (see screenshot), this is why you’re not seeing it in the testing.

Hey @Jnix284 ,

You can do it, if it is an automated mail you are sending. Should’ve been worth mentioning…sorry 🙂

Technically it is clear to me, why there are some restraints in implementing this when having one-to-many relations for objects and the system can not be sure which object to pick for personalization. While this problem not exists if, for example, this mail is sent in a workflow that is triggered by a custom object because the relation will be defined by the enrolled object.

But still, this could be technically solved by some settings you make before doing a test run of your automated mail.

[@thombü](https://community.hubspot.com/t5/user/viewprofilepage/user-id/88888) sorry, I didn’t realize it was automated email, that makes more sense! I can see the issue with how it is currently and the difficulty to implement - hopefully there’s a solution somewhere that could resolve this!

Commenting here on behalf of a customer - they’re using custom object and would like to see the functionality of testing personalisation tokens in test emails extend to custom objects too. This gives them the confidence that the actual emails will display the correct and expected text.

Absolutely agree that this is a good feature to consider. The point of testing is to ensure that the email you send to customers is going to look exactly how you want it to look. If you can’t do that fully, it really erodes the value of the testing feature.

Update on testing of regular emails:

##### HubSpot has released this one in April, which might help some of you already:

#####

##### **Multi Object Preview & Test Send Filters**

Previewing personalized elements such as tokens in a Marketing Email before send is crucial to ensure accuracy and relevance. By verifying recipient details and other personalized object information included in your email, it allows users to catch errors, test how their email looks for the end recipient, and maintain a positive brand image.

_\*available to Marketing Hub Pro+ customers_

_[…] If personalisation tokens from two different object types are detected in your email body, additional object filters will be made available. […]_
