I’m creating a new email for use as a newsletter to our contacts. Our brand uses dark colors - I’m using a dark background for my email. I sent myself a test. In Outlook, I’m seeing unintended white horizontal lines -- NOT divider lines -- extending all the way across the screen between some, but not all content blocks. Lines do not show up in Gmail, iOS mail app, iPhone Gmail app. Any idea why this is happening in Outlook? or how I can remove the lines?

Hello @KAntene thank you for posting in our Community!

This looks like that could have some padding added to your email. I want to share this knowledge base [with more information here](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/website-pages/edit-page-content-in-a-drag-and-drop-area)

I would also recommend checking with your designer to see if there is any custom content added.

To our top experts @Lowe @TomM2 @VerbruggheCaro any recommendations to @KAntene matter?

Thank you,

Pam

Thanks for the tag @PamCotton It’s difficult to tell without seeing your email to be honest.

One thing I would check though is that all columns, sections and modules don’t have padding/margins you don’t want (likely margins). You can do this by clicking into the “content” section on the tab on the left and then selecting each element and clicking the “style” tab.

Thanks for mentioning me @PamCotton, however, I can’t offer a solution to this.

I have experienced this exact issue in my own email campaigns and have tried to come to a resolution with HubSpot’s support system to no avail. Image below:

I have not yet added it to the HubSpot community as a post for further discussion, so yours may well be the first post like this. It will need some more upvotes to get it looked into as a big fix, but this is the way to do it. Unless, of course, Pam is able to get this looked into as a matter of urgency.

Thanks,

Luke

@TomM2 thanks for the suggestion. (First screenshot below) I’m not seeing the “style” tab and can find no way to adjust margins. Padding yes. Margins no. Can you point me in the right direction?
(Second screenshot below) Here’s the issue I was experiencing, which seems to match what @Lowe experienced. My solution has been to switch to a light background. I’d rather go with the dark option, but not if it’s gonna look bad.

Hey @KAntene apologies I was thinking of the CMS editor not the email one. If you select he pencil icon in your section, have you set the background in here? You should also see your top and bottom spacing in here too.

I am having the exact same issue in Outlook, and I confirmed I have no extra padding between sections. If I open the email in my browser, the lines disappear. I upvoted your post in hopes we get a resolution soon!

I am having the same issue - managed to get rid of one line, no idea how, but cannot remove the second one, there is no padding anywhere or extra sections to remove, I’m stumped! This happens each email I create and in-between a different section each time with no rhyme or reason that I can see.

I did some further reading on HubSpot and it seems like this has to do with [Outlook’s inability to display CSS correctly](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/marketing-email/emails-look-different-in-outlook).

I did notice there is an option to view the email as a web page - a possible workaround. We debated sending a shorter, simpler email as an intro with a CTA to “see the full email” that links to the webpage. It’s not ideal (especially for an external email) but for internal newsletters it’s an ok solution for our team.

Ahh thanks @LaurenWittschen … I have managed to get rid of the final horizontal line by playing around with the line spacing and font size - still no real rhyme or reason but it’s worked, thanks for the link to that article 🙂
