Email Reporting per Company

Is there a way to report which emails I’ve sent to a specific company (or companies?)

Hey @DFlach, thanks for reaching out!

Emails are sent to individual contacts and tracked on their records, so contacts will always be the best source for reporting on specific email sends. From there, individual email sends are tough to report on (i.e., you can’t pull a report containing all of the emails that a contact has received, but you can pull a report of the specific contacts who all received the same individual email).

I do have some thoughts on how you could get close here though!

Use the “Company name” property at the contact level

You may already have a value here, or you can create a workflow that will copy the name of the primary associated company to the “Company name” property on the contact record.

From there, you can create a list of all contacts who received a particular email.

You can then use that list as the filter in your contact report so that only contacts we received that particular email will be displayed. From there, you can report on “Company name” and “Count of contacts” to see the number of contacts at each company who received that particular email.

It’s definitely a bit tediuos, and it’ll be specific to one marketing email at a time, but it may do what you need it to!

Evaluate company records on a case-by-case basis

As long as you have all applicable contacts associated with the company record, you can select just the “Emails” filter on the company record to get an aggregated view of the emails that have been sent to the associated contacts. If you need to get specific email info for a select number of companies, this will probably be quicker than creating individual reports for each email.

Hopefully that helps at least get you started! Just remember that the contacts are the actual ones receiving and engaging with the emails. Depending on what you ultimately need to report on, you may be able get what you need from the contact record (i.e., lead scoring, custom property values). Thanks!
