# Email personalization for custom objects

Is it possible to use tokens from a custom object to fill out information in an email template?

Hi @kieranknock, Yes. If you have an enterprise account you should be able to use tokens from your custom objects in automated marketing emails. [Here’s a similar thread](https://community.hubspot.com/t5/Email-Marketing-Tool/Email-Personalization-Token-with-custom-objects/m-p/422333) where this was brought up. As mentioned above, they must be automated marketing emails and as per the article there are a few limitations:

"

- _If you insert a custom object personalization token into your automated marketing email, it will only render the associated property if you’re using the email in a [workflow based on your custom object](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/workflows/create-workflows#start-from-scratch:~:text=Custom%20objects%20(Enterprise%20only))._
- _If the name of your custom object contains a hyphen (e.g., custom-object), the email will not be able to render personalization tokens for properties of that object. Learn how to [edit the name of your custom object](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/crm-setup/create-custom-objects#edit-or-delete-a-custom-object)._
- _If you select a date property (e.g., Date of last meeting booked in meetings tool), the date will be rendered in your email, but the time and timezone data will be omitted._
