Hi,

I’m a complete newbie to Hubspot (& CRM’s in general), so I apologise if this is a stupid question!

Basically, I just want to be able to log email conversations to contacts in Hubspot. We want to continue using our email client for sending/receiving emails, we’re not interested in sending marketing emails etc from Hubspot (at this time anyway).

We use gSuite (Gmail), which I know can be connected to Hubspot, so once it’s connected, as long as the clients email address is assigned to a client in Hubspot, will the conversation be logged against that client?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Hi Jade,

You can log all emails, regardless of the email service provider you’re using, with a BCC email address. This knowledgebase article explains how: [Log email in your CRM with the BCC or forwarding address](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/settings/log-email-in-your-crm-with-the-bcc-or-forwarding-address)

For Gmail or G Suite, there is a dedicated extension for automatic tracking: [https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/hubspot-sales/oiiaigjnkhngdbnoookogelabohpglmd?hl=en](https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/hubspot-sales/oiiaigjnkhngdbnoookogelabohpglmd?hl=en)

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the reply Karsten.

If I go down the route of installing the Chrome extension, do I also have to follow the connect process within Hubspot? I had a look at this just now but it seemed to want an awful lot of permissions, such as send email on my behalf, view and manage search console data, manage the list of sites and domains I control - is all this above board?

Thanks.

Hey @SimplerAcc,

Yes, there’s no way around that. If you want to use the extension, you have to authorize these permissions.

Whether the extension is compliant with data privacy regulations in your country or specific requirements in your company, I cannot say. Your legal department / data privacy officer should sign-off on this.

Hope this helps!

Hi there

I have recently taken over as manager at my agency, and the previous manager who was training me had trouble setting me up a it keeps saying

**'We are sorry, but you do not have access to this service.** Please contact your organisation administrator for access.

She has now literally just had her baby, and is off, and now my hiub spot isnt tracking anything and seems to have stopped working? There is no sign in the corner of GMail, showing me it was available and no tick box appears on my emails, and nothing gets tracked on email contacts either. the help line on here, just literally sends me round in circles.

We do not have an IT dept, were a small company, and really frustrating that itss randomly stopped working. thanks
