Hi all,
I have a starter subscription and have a question regarding the marketing email footer language.
My HubSpot user interface is set to Dutch and I’ve created different email campaigns: some are sent to English-speaking customers and others to Dutch-speaking customers.
I 've noticed I can set the email content language (for example English or Dutch), but the mandatory address/footer block always shows the country in Dutch (“Nederland”).
Would it be possible to fully change the footer language to match the email language (incl. the country)?
• English campaign → footer in English (country: The Netherlands)
• Dutch campaign → footer in Dutch (country: Nederland)
Hello @JMinke , and thank you for posting your question!
I found a Knowledge Base resource that should help clarify your issue:
I’m also tagging a few community experts. Hey there @DilshadShaikh , @Lucila-Andimol , and @Anton — I hope you’re having a great week! Any additional ideas here?
This is a known quirk with HubSpot’s email footer. The mandatory office address block pulls the country name based on your portal’s default language setting, not the content language you pick for each individual email. So even if you set the email to English, the footer grabs “Nederland” from your account settings because your UI is in Dutch.
On Starter there’s unfortunately not a ton you can do natively. The subscription type translations that Victor linked are helpful for the unsubscribe preferences page, but they dont fully control the address footer rendering. One workaround that some people use is manually editing the office address in your account settings to say “The Netherlands” in English, but then of course your Dutch emails would also show it in English. There’s no per email toggle for that country field as far as I know (Update your account name and company information )
If you’re sending roughly equal volumes in both languages, it might be worth looking into whether a Pro upgrade would help since you get more control over footer modules and smart content there. I know at Stacksync we had a similar situation managing multilingual communications and honestly it took some creative workarounds before HubSpot gave us enough flexibility. Not an ideal answer but hopefully it saves you some time digging around. Note: This response was written based on my own experience and lightly reformatted with AI for clarity.
