Is there anyway for hubspot to notify us when we sent an email via the crm and the contact doesn’t respond? Like boomerang? But bommerang doesn’t work when we send a message via the crm.
Depending on your use case, one solution might be to enroll the contacts in a short sequence as follows …
- Sequence Step 1 - your email
- Sequence Step #2 - auto-task reminder (after ‘x’ days)
Using the above setup, the task reminder will only be triggered if the recipient does NOT reply to your email from Sequence Step 1!
While this addresses the original issue, it’s clunky. It may be easier to just use the auto-task creation feature in the CRM when you send one-to-one emails. The default follow-up reminder task is set to 3 business days, and is easily adjustable on the fly.

HubSpot Sales Email Follow-up Tasks
Just a thought.
Hello,
I’m having the same issue as I need to have a check box in my emails to be sure is not lose after a email is sent. It’s not actually linked to a sequence: imagine that I’m replying internal e-mails and need a reply until tomorrow - and I want the email to get back to my inbox as a non-read so I can remember to push a feedback/reply. How can I do it trough Hubspot?
I used to have this features activated in Cirrus insight + Sales force, but now that I’m using Hubspot doesnt seems to be possible.
Do you have a Cirrus insight integration?
Thank you.
Best,
Hi, is this feature (auto task creation) available in the free version of Hubspot? Is this in the inbox or the marketing email section?
Thanks for your help
Hi @ABlom, hope you are doing well.
The feature Frank mentioned works only for 1:1 emails. Please check this quick video to see the option.
Best,
Diana
Thank you Diana,
Two questions:
1. I was unable to replicate this from the Inbox, (Inbox/Compose), only
from the Contacts as shown in the video
2. I am unable to replicate this from Gmail, in spite of having the Chrome
extension.
Does this sound right to you?
Kind regards
Arne Blom
OK Thank you!
Hi @Red_lamp
Depending upon your HubSpot tier and what kind of email you’re sending, I recommend the following:
1. If it is a one-to-one email, there’s a checkbox that allows you to set up a follow up task before you send the email. HubSpot makes this easy within the email tool and allows you to customize the date you wish to follow up with them:
Create a follow up task
Set up a reminder for the task - this will remind you to check the contact record and see if they’ve opened your email or not. Then follow up with them.
2. For marketing emails sent to multiple people (for the PRO level of HubSpot):
Create a workflow with an If/then branch with the following actions:
Marketing email activity > received (name of email) but didn’t open it
On the YES side of the If/then branch, create a new action that adds them to a pre-defined follow up list.
Next, create a new action that creates a task for you to follow up with these people on the list.
OR you can also automate this follow-up with an email you’ve created in advance:
Continuing on the YES side of the If/then branch, make the next action: send email (name of email you’ve created that follows up with people who didn’t open the last email).
I hope this helps.
While the solution outlined above works, it isn’t as convenient as what Boomerang for Gmail offers.
The way Boomerang works is that it notifies the user only if the person in contact hasn’t responded in x amount of days or in a set date in the future. Hubspot currently does the latter (reminder in a future date).
However, I’d argue the bigger value is only being notified if a person in contact hasn’t responded in x amount of days. That way, there wouldn’t be redundant efforts in instances where people respond before x amount of days (i.e. marking a follow up task as complete right after a person has responded)
Agreed! Not a practical solution for the actual use case desired. It results in follow-up tasks that would actually require no action to be taken on them (those that had replied to an email).
This proposed solution is “How to create a follow-up to task to ANY email”, which missed the mark in my opinion, as the desired solution requires the follow-up task to only require action when the condition of “no reply” is true.
Thank you everyone! These are excellent solutions!
