I’m trying to setup a workflow where the trigger will be when the user clicks on a specific link in the email we send.

The process will be:

1) User fills out X form

2) Response email is sent automatically containing specific link (not HubSpot CTA)

3) Once user clicks on specific link, that action is the trigger for Workflow Y.

Can this be done?

Thanks,

Hello [@beng\_dbmaestro](https://community.hubspot.com/t5/user/viewprofilepage/user-id/87189),

If the email sent a HubSpot automated email? If so you are able to create a tracking URL so you can specify what link the user clicked in your email.

Similar to this screenshot here:

 ![29804iCE219B178F3DAD9B.png](https://d2qpr2jzcazej7.cloudfront.net/original/3X/c/1/c1d6a7deb63ec77f68ec4257515853b8449e25b2.png)
email click

I was able to find this option by selecting an “if/then” branch\> Marketing Emails\> Select the email sent\> "contact clicked a link in email " and select the link you want.

I hope this information helps.

Kindly,

Pam

Hi @NHure,

Thanks for reaching out!

You can find the workflow criteria @PamCotton is referring to under "Marketing Emails " in the workflow builder:

Here’s a [handy guide on setting up marketing email workflows](https://blog.hubspot.com/marketing/email-marketing-automation-examples) in case you would like to see some examples 🙂

I hope this helps!

Does the email have to be “sent” in order for it to show up in the dropdown of email options? My draft email does not show up in the list but sent emails do.

Does this feature work for Ad-hoc emails, rather than just marketing emails?

So if recipient clicks link then I am looking to trigger a follow up task of a call to be created.

Thanks

Hi @Colmoreilly,

Thanks for reaching out!

I wanted to share this [knowledge base on workflow triggers such as marketing email activity like clicks](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/workflows/set-your-workflow-enrollment-triggers#common-workflow-enrollment-triggers) and this [knowledge base article on sales email (1:1 emails)](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/lists/use-the-activity-filter-in-lists)filters that can be added to a workflow.

Hope this helps!

Best,
