What is the constant that HubSpot uses to trigger duplicates? It looks like in my account it is the name. Can this change? Duplicates by email or postal code would make a bit more sense than just name. Please let me know if I can change the constant.

The deduplication property for contacts is email address, not name. You can’t change it, but it is one of the ones you mentioned so you should be fine. If import contacts without email address (and without the HubSpot generated UID) then you will get duplicate contacts.
