Dropdown property returns label name instead of internal value in HubSpot

Hello all,

I’m hoping I could get some help here, because I have no clue. Recently the dropdown property has changed to the worse, whenever I want to access any custom dropdown property value in my templates, I’m expecting the internal value. But instead of that I receive the label name of the chosen selection.

Setting the label name as the same as the internal value isn’t a solution, due to the amount and incomprehensible naming scheme for the end user.

As example I want the internal value (“Interner Name”) but I only get the label, which won’t work with my templates.

Hi @tnguyen_cbb,

This issue often occurs when the template is pulling the label by default instead of the internal value. To get the internal value, you can try these,

Solutions,
Instead of referencing the field directly (e.g., {{ contact.gender }}), try using {{ contact.gender.internalValue }}. This should return the internal value instead of the label.

Ensure that in your custom template, the property is being referenced correctly using the internal value syntax, which could look something like {{ contact.customProperty.internalValue }}.

If you’re using the API or workflows, double-check that the code is using the property’s internalValue attribute, not the default label.

I hope it helps, let me know if you need to talk!

Hey,

thanks for the help, but I wasn’t able to get the internal value syntax to work.

Instead I got forwarded to this dev blog from Hubspot, which mentions the changes of enumerations properties and provided a workaround to get the internal values.
