Does deleting leads also delete a contact record?

Hi community!

Due to a strategic decision at my company, we’ve decided to add companies as leads instead of individual contacts. Now, I need to remove the leads associated with a contact from the Lead pipeline, but I’m worried that doing so might also delete the contact. Does anyone know if that could happen?

I’ve not done this but am pretty sure deleting a lead object won’t delete the associated contact. They are essentially two separate objects which are associated with each other, deleting the lead simply means the lead object won’t exist anymore but the contact will remain.

I would suggest to manually create a dummy lead on a dummy contact and see what happens.
