# Does changing email subscripton type inform contacts?

Hello, I am going to manage our subscription types with workflow. I will change some of my contacts’ email subscription type, will it inform them?

Hi @ozgesilla,

No, changing a contact’s status for a subscription type (opt in, not opted, opted out) does not trigger an email to the contact.

… unless you have set up a workflow that enrolls contacts when they’re opted into a subscription type, and which then sends a welcome email or similar.

Out of the box, however, no, no default automatic emails.
