Documenting how workflows and integrations work together

Hi all,

Slightly adjacent question here.

We’re a small company (~60 people) making good use of HubSpot and various integrations and adjacent systems, mostly managing the technology ourselves. Whilst we have documentation of individual components - e.g. what each individual HubSpot workflow does, what one of our zaps does - we don’t really have a simple method to summarize how end-to-end flows work (other than a Word document).

As an example, as a work-around to some missing currency conversion functionality for HubSpot line items, we have a zapier trigger that fires when a HubSpot deal changes, does some maths, updates custom properties on HubSpot line items, and also sets a flag on the deal which is picked up by a HubSpot workflow trigger that does some further steps. Some of our other flows incorporate APIs to other systems and use some basic coding.

It feels like there must be a standard approach to flow-charting that kind of digital / automated flow that we can leverage to present a simpler diagramatic description of how we operate.

Has anyone used something that might fit?

Any recommendations or suggestions greatly received!

Phil

Hi, @PBaxter :waving_hand: Thanks for your question. I’d like to invite some of our community members to the conversation. Hey, @Teun @Phil_Vallender @jonchim, have you built or consulted on building, visual representations like this? Have you used Lucidchart, Gliffy, or D3.js, or other tools to show these relationships?

Thank you! — Jaycee
