How do you manage the list of competitors in the CRM? I am thinking of importing them and marking them as competitors so that I can exclude them from all upcoming marketing events. This would also be beneficial for all CRM stakeholders to be aware of them. How do you manage this?

Hi @ozgesilla,

There are two things I’d recommend here:

1. Create a property ‘Contact type’ with options like ‘Potential customer / customer’, ‘Employee’, ‘Partner’, ‘Competitor’ (this field can be handy in other cases than just marking competitors)
2. Create a contact-based list that filters for ‘Contact type is any of Competitor’ OR ‘Email domain is any of [email domains of your competitors]’
3. Create a workflow that sets all contacts on the list who are not yet ‘Contact type’ = competitor to that exact value

You would now have a list that auto-updates with new contacts from known competitors based on their email address – and you also have the ability to put contacts there manually by marketing them individually.

This list can be used in reports, workflows, emails as an exclusion.

Best regards
