That’s a great question! Having basic knowledge in HTML and CSS is always helpful for creating content or editing a website, and even just for communicating with a designer or a developer!

Now I have an idea of what my additional skill set should look like.
I agree with @kvlschaefer. I have some basic HTML and CSS, and it has proven to be invaluable for me. I work with small companies, so I have to wear multiple hats. Even though I am not a full web designer or developer, it has been imprtant for me to be able to do some base-level personalization (ie: creating buttons, personalizing text, fine tuning images, etc). Even if I am NOT the one editing the code, it is important in having full conversations with developers so we are on the same page with the same vision.
Hmm… So, it’s gonna be a plus for me especially to aid smooth flow and communication with the developers I might be working with in my team, right? Thanks

Having more complementary skills for content marketing like web development is always beneficial. However, if you are going the corporate route, usually those needs are taken care by specialists and the content marketers are focused on producing content instead of the amplification process.
On the other hand, if you are doing freelancing, it will be highly beneficial as your clients would want someone to handle end to end.

Developer is a complete different profile and it in my opinion, learning web development doesn’t help you much in content marketing. But still learning a new skill would surely enhance your knowledge.
Nope! Content is all about writing and how information is presented! However, knowing basic HTML will definitely be a plus for you!
