Was excited to try this out this morning. I gave ChatGPT 4 images containing lists of numbers and asked it to extract the numbers from the images into a list for me. I thought this would be simple but was left disappointed with the output. It was outputting numbers that weren’t on the list, it was missing some numbers… It was just not working. I’m attaching a sample input image below. Has anyone had a good experience with this? If you don’t mind, can I see the prompt you used to execute? But, I can also vouch that GPT has been a bit…dumb lately. My wife has been getting extremely frustrated because she uses it a lot for fact-finding-based work and where it used to be nearly bulletproof, she says that lately its been getting about 50-60% wrong answers that she’s had to correct it on. The prompt was: Can you extract all of the numbers from these images into a list File type was PNG I spent a bit of time correcting it but was getting nowhere. It started getting conservative and returning smaller lists of numbers each time. Ended up just doing it manually in the end

That could be, I submitted as one entire image. I have found though that asking it with “are you able to” when it comes to additional functionality, works better because it adds a ‘challenge’ element to it and I have noticed GPT picks up on this and takes on the challenge each time. Wow!!, it’s all about the prompt isn’t it??? I tried a different approach than Nico Lafakis and… nothing… Although interesting insights as well, no good list. I then tried the exact same prompt as Nico and yes GPT liked it… same results as Nico.. Looks like GPT doesn’t want to play with OCR.. However I asked for a joke about GPT and OCR having a baby: ChatGPT Why did GPT and OCR’s baby excel in school? Because it could scan through textbooks at lightning speed and answer questions with laser-sharp accuracy, leaving everyone else in the dust! You hmmmm not sure about the sharp accuracy part buddy.. ChatGPT Fair point! Let’s refine that: Why did GPT and OCR’s baby struggle in school? Because it kept mixing up its ABCs with 1-2-3s, leading to some interesting, albeit confusing, pop quizzes!
