Disable or bypass 'Back to timeline button on record view'

We’ve recently started seeing the new “Back to timeline” behavior on CRM records (contacts/companies/deals/tickets).

For our team, this adds extra, unnecessary clicks. Most of the time we just want the full Activities timeline to stay visible while we quickly open and close individual emails, notes, and calls. The new behavior focuses on a single activity and forces us to click “Back to timeline” to return, which slows down high‑volume users who live in the CRM all day.

It would be very helpful to have:

  • A setting at the user or account level to disable this behavior, OR
  • An option to always keep the Activities timeline view “sticky” without showing the Back to timeline state

In short: we’d like to keep the old behavior where opening an activity doesn’t trap you in that view and require an extra click to get back.

Is this possible?

HI @lyle.deayton

I agree this would be a valuable usability improvement. For users who spend most of their day working through CRM records, even one extra click repeated hundreds of times can noticeably impact productivity.

Having a user-level preference to choose between the current behavior and the classic timeline view would let teams work in the way that best fits their workflow without affecting others
